About the role
The Design Engineer will lead plastics, sheet metal, casting, and forging product design activities for suspension systems, taking concepts through design for manufacturing (DFM) and managing engineering change requests and notices (ECR/ECN). This role focuses on 3D modeling, detailed drafting, and design validation while closely collaborating with clients to integrate their requirements into robust, production-ready component designs.
What you'll do
- Design plastics, sheet metal, casting, and forging components for suspension systems from initial concept through to DFM and release
- Develop 3D models and detailed drawings using Catia V5 and/or UG NX, ensuring accuracy and completeness of all design documentation
- Implement and manage design changes, including handling ECR/ECN processes and updating models and drawings accordingly
- Perform quality checks on designs and drawings to ensure compliance with standards, customer specifications, and functional requirements
- Apply GD&T principles to define and communicate tolerances, fits, and functional relationships between parts and assemblies
