About the role
The Shift Engineer is responsible for supporting the Shift Incharge in managing and overseeing all operational activities during the assigned shift in iron ore mining. This role involves closely monitoring equipment performance, assisting in the coordination of drilling, blasting, loading, and transportation activities, and ensuring compliance with safety and operational standards.
What you'll do
- Oversee and manage all mining activities during the assigned shift, including drilling, blasting, loading, and transportation of ore
- Coordinate with the mine planning, engineering, and maintenance teams to ensure all activities are aligned with the overall mining plan and schedules
- Monitor the performance of equipment and personnel, ensuring that operations are conducted safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company standards
- Conduct regular safety inspections and toolbox talks to promote a culture of safety among all shift personnel
- Ensure that all incidents, accidents, or near-misses are reported and investigated, and that corrective actions are implemented promptly
