About the role
The Technical Manager is a hands-on technical leader responsible for leading software engineering teams that design, build, modernize, and operate AutoZone’s global data platform. This role balances technical depth, people leadership, and delivery execution , ensuring that cloud-native, secure, and scalable solutions are delivered on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
What you'll do
- Directly manage, mentor, and develop engineers and technical leads, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement
- Support career development through regular feedback, coaching, and performance management aligned with company values and engineering expectations
- Promote adoption of modern development practices, engineering discipline, and a strong quality mindset across teams
- Act as an escalation point for technical and delivery issues, driving timely resolution while maintaining team morale and focus
- Solid back-end development experience using Java (Spring Boot) and Data Management tools
