About the role
The Shift In Charge is responsible for supervising and coordinating slag pit operations during their assigned shift. This includes overseeing slag evacuation, cooling, transportation, scrap recovery, and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental standards.
What you'll do
- Handle and evacuate slag and skull (solidified slag) from pits to processing or dumping yards
- Follow strict safety protocols when working around hot slag and water systems
- Ensure slag dumping occurs in designated areas to avoid hazards
- Organize and manage slag pit activities to meet production schedules
- Supervise operators, technicians, and support staff during the shift
