About the role
We are looking for an experienced Senior Android Engineer to take ownership of a widely used native mobile application designed to make digital reading engaging and accessible for children. In this role, you will lead the evolution of a mature Android codebase built primarily with Kotlin, ensuring a seamless experience across smartphones, tablets, and Chromebooks.
What you'll do
- Take full ownership of the native Android application across smartphones, tablets, and Chromebooks, driving ongoing development, maintenance, and technical improvements
- Design, develop, and optimize the core digital reading experience, including custom page rendering, page-turn animations, zoom functionality, touch gestures
- Manage offline reading capabilities, including encrypted content downloads, local storage, background processing, and reliable content access
- Maintain and improve Google Play Billing subscriptions and oversee the complete Play Store release process
- Drive application performance, stability, and quality by monitoring startup times, memory usage, application crashes, ANRs, and test coverage
