Software Engineer - Python and Data – Assistant Vice President

About the role

Citi's Markets Technology group is seeking a skilled Software Python & Data Engineer in Pune to help engineer high-throughput Regulatory Controls and Market Surveillance Platforms. In this hands-on engineering role, you will design, code, and optimize scalable Python backend services and data pipelines that process large volumes of financial market data—including trade lifecycles, orders, executions, and risk analytics.

What you'll do

• Design and implement high-throughput Python backend services and SQL pipelines to ingest and process large volumes of financial market data
• Translate regulatory mandates and market surveillance policies into reliable, deterministic control algorithms and automated surveillance components
• Collaborate with trading desks, risk managers, and compliance stakeholders to support the modeling of trade lifecycles, order workflows and multi-asset risk analytics
• Perform application profiling, database tuning, and SQL query optimization to reduce bottlenecks, minimize latency and improve throughput
• Contribute to Generative AI-assisted solutions and automation patterns that reduce manual operational activities and streamline control testing workflows
