About the role
As an Advanced Java Backend Developer at Hilti, you will independently design and deliver high-complexity backend services for the On!Track asset management platform. You will lead technical initiatives, influence service architecture, optimize distributed systems, and guide engineering teams in building scalable, resilient, secure, and observable backend capabilities for a global user base.
What you'll do
- Lead the design and delivery of complex Java backend services, APIs, microservices, and event-driven integrations ; Define technical approaches for high-volume
- Apply domain-driven design, clean architecture, service decomposition, API contracts, and contract-first development ; Design and evolve REST/gRPC APIs
- Drive technical initiatives across performance, scalability, resilience, reliability, security, observability, and maintainability ; Conduct architecture reviews
- Guide developers on backend architecture, testing strategy, distributed systems patterns, observability, production readiness, and secure development
- Implement and enhance observability practices using OpenTelemetry, distributed tracing, structured logging, metrics, dashboards, and alerting
