About the role
The waters_connect portfolio within Waters Informatics is seeking a creative and technically strong Senior Research Engineer in Machine Learning to help advance intelligent, automated scientific workflows. This role focuses on applying machine learning and AI techniques to improve how analytical data is generated, interpreted, and acted upon across connected laboratory systems.
What you'll do
- Experiment with various LLM, agentic AI, machine learning and statistical models, develop data features, generate metrics
- Work with subject matter experts (SMEs) to evaluate models and present results to stakeholders, demonstrating the value of the ML techniques in new product concepts
- Use object-oriented programming and functional programming best practices to maintain codebases and write unit tests
- Contribute to the preparation of technical reports, patent applications, and transferable protocols
- Contribute to the construction and maintenance of data pipelines supporting research and applied informatics use cases
