Staff, Software Engineer

About the role

Walmart's Global Tech Platforms (GTP) organization powers the tools, platforms, and services used by thousands of engineers across the company. The Walmart Schema Registry team builds the platform that keeps Walmart's data contracts consistent and safe to use. WSR runs on WCNP (Kubernetes on Azure AKS), stores metadata in Google Cloud Spanner, and integrates with GitHub Enterprise, PingFederate SSO, Artifactory, Concord, and LooperPro.

What you'll do

• Own architecture and design for the registry server (Rust, gRPC), including schema validation, compatibility rules, and codegen job orchestration
• Lead the evolution of multi-language codegen (Java, Go, Rust) and artifact publishing across Artifactory, Concord, and LooperPro
• Design the schema-as-code workflow on GitHub Enterprise, covering PR checks, approvals, merges, and releases
• Define SLOs, observability, and on-call practices, and lead reliability and incident response for a production platform
• Mentor engineers and partner with consumer teams and security reviewers through design reviews and technical standards
