Assistant Manager -CHP -Railway Maintenance

About the role

This role is responsible for managing all aspects of railway yard operations, including the maintenance of locomotives, signalling systems, and wagon conditions to ensure efficient and uninterrupted operations. They manage the reception and unloading of coal rakes, maintain communication systems, and enforce safety and environmental standards within the railway yard.

What you'll do

• Manage railway yard operations, including locomotive parameters and the operation of electrical and manual hand points, in coordination with the shift team
• Manage signalling system operations within the yard panel alongside the panel master and supervise the unloading of laden coal rakes
• Facilitate coordination between the locomotive pointsman and the locomotive pilot, as well as the field pointsman, to ensure efficient shunting operations
• Verify the correct positioning of guard wagons and isolated wagons to prevent unexpected shunting incidents
• Maintain the condition of points, tongue rails, and stock rails
