About the role
The Design Engineer (Tech Lead) is a hands-on individual contributor responsible for executing reverse engineering, design, analysis, prototyping, and validation activities. This role owns end-to-end delivery of engineering projects within scope, ensuring high-quality, timely completion in compliance with aerospace and regulatory standards.
What you'll do
- Independently execute complete reverse engineering and FAA-PMA development projects, including input analysis, dimensional/material characterization, design development
- Interpret technical specifications and define required engineering activities, deliverables, and documentation across all phases of development
- Perform hands-on metrology and reverse engineering using tools such as calipers, gauges, VMM, and 3D scanning to establish dimensions, tolerances
- Define and execute tests to determine material properties and validate functional and performance requirements
- Develop 3D CAD models and detailed manufacturing drawings, applying GD&T, DFM, tolerance stack-up analysis, and aerospace design principles (materials, loading, fatigue
