About the role

GE Vernova delivers reactive power compensators such as Static Synchronous Compensators (STATCOM) and Static Var Compensators (SVC), on which we are the global FACTS Solution Line based in Finland, India, Brazil and US. These systems are used to control power system voltage and reactive power flow as well as to improve the power system stability and transmission system efficiency.

What you'll do

• Develop and implement STATCOM/SVC control algorithms and control functions using MATLAB/Simulink
• Perform MATLAB/Simulink implementation, simulation, verification, and validation of control functions
• Develop and execute PSCAD simulations, particularly for dynamic performance studies and validation of STATCOM/SVC control performance
• Perform controller performance evaluation under various grid operating conditions, disturbances, faults, voltage variations, and reactive power requirements
• Develop and maintain simulation models for STATCOM/SVC control and system performance assessment
