Software Engineer

About the role

The Windows + Devices Fundamentals team is responsible for the reliability, compatibility, performance, battery life, and sustainability of Windows devices. We are seeking a motivated Software Engineer to help build the next generation of Windows device optimizations. As advances in AI, silicon, and software create new opportunities, you will contribute to making exceptional device fundamentals a defining feature of Windows PCs.

What you'll do

• Analyze telemetry and trace data, with support from experienced engineers, to understand software and hardware behavior on individual devices and at scale
• Investigate system issues using debugging and performance-analysis tools
• Identify optimization opportunities and contribute to the design and implementation of improvements
• Develop, test, and maintain code that improves experiences across operating-system and application layers
• Deliver reliable, high-quality solutions by following sound engineering practices and incorporating feedback from code and design reviews
